Reminiscing.

I’m watching Gran Torino and there was just a scene where Walt takes Thao out to buy a tool belt and asks with his usual tone of racial insensitivity, “What are you gonna carry your tools in? A rice bag?”  It made me laugh.

I used to carry my lunch in a burlap rice bag.  Once, on a job site, our crew was moving from one floor to another. A coworker was looking for a box to put his loose tools in and since my lunch was already eaten I quickly threw a bunch of his things into my bag and offered it to him. He wouldn’t carry it because he didn’t want to look “ghetto.”  

He would not carry it!
