When a status symbol is no longer a status symbol.

The state of repair is as important as the name….I was driving behind a newer Mercedes car today and saw several rust spots on the trunk lid.  If the car were in perfect shape I would have been impressed (on some level) by the conspicuous display of wealth but with those rust spots it’s clear the owner can’t afford to maintain their car and it brings as much prestige as a fourth-hand Corolla.
